Dimitris A. Sevastakis

He was born in Karlovasi, Samos, in 1960. He studied painting at the Athens School of Fine Arts (1979-1985) under G.Moralis, D.Mytaras, D.Koukos and Z.Arvanitis. He graduated as excellent. A.Schina), Artforum gallery, Thessaloniki, 1995 “Lessons for my country”, Onoma gallery, Samos, 1995 “Silence” (cur. M.Stefanidis), Titanium gallery, Athens, 1991 “Clear Skies” (cur.K.Koskina), Nees Morphes gallery, Athens, 1986 “Painting” (cur. G.Petris), Zalokosta 7 gallery, Athens. Dimitris A.Sevastakis has also participated in several group exhibitions in Greece and abroad. His paintings are hosted in private as well as public collections in Greece and abroad. His work has been commented by reputable art critics and art historians. He teaches as assistant professor at the Department of Architecture of the National Technical University of Athens. As an artist he collaborates with some of the most well-known Greek publishing houses (Patakis, Papazisis, Kedros, Alexandria, etc.). As an artist but also as a theorist Sevastakis collaborated with the alternative and digital art center ART-ACT. He writes regularly in Greek (mostly Athenian) newspapers and several art and theory magazines, and also he writes regularly for politics and cultural politics. Dimitris Sevastakis since January 2015 serves as a Member of the Hellenic Parliament, for the county of Samos (MP), and he also serves as the Chair of the Permanent Committee of Education and Culture of the Hellenic Parliament.
